Adani Energy Solutions Won the Prestigious “Golden Peacock” Environment Management Award

As can be seen in Adani updates, the Institute of Directors has awarded Adani Energy Solutions(AES) the “Golden Peacock Environment Management Award 2023 (GPEMA)” in the “Power Transmission Sector.” This achievement is in the pretext of:

· Adani’s two guiding principles are “Nation Building” and “Growth with Goodness.”

· They give the nation energy and create long-lasting value internationally.

·   The energy they transmit supports the country’s economy and improves the lives of millions of people.

· They seek to give back to the community (CSR) via their Corporate Social Responsibilities.

· They wanted everything they did to have a beneficial effect on the environment.

· Adani Energy Solutions ensures that all electrical waste generated during setups is recycled 100% of the time by adhering to best practices.

With initiatives like zero waste to landfill, single-use plastic-free operations, water-positive operations, and promotion of renewable energy integration, AES has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to reducing its environmental footprint. This commitment is recognised with the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award.

AES is dedicated to preserving the environment and biodiversity in general

AES avoids ecologically sensitive areas, including Coastal Regulation Zones (CRZs), national parks, sanctuaries, forests, and biosphere reserves. This is carried out in keeping with the agenda for the conservation and management of biodiversity. For every project, AES assess various options and choose the best strategy, as per Adani updates. The approved plan is the one that will affect biodiversity the least

Sewage treatment plants treat domestic wastewater, and the treated water is used in gardening. Condenser cooling water is released via a roughly 3.5 km zigzag channel to achieve a temperature rise of less than 5ºC above sea level. In addition to pollution control measures, AES has increased the area’s green cover. Only in Dahanu, more than 2 Cr mangroves have been planted, and a green belt covering approximately 148 hectares of land has been developed.

In addition, about 283 hectares of compensatory afforestation has been carried out. To restock groundwater, rainwater harvestation techniques are prioritized.

Adani Energy solutions wins the Golden Peacock Environment management Award 2023

A company should aim to achieve the highly sought-after and distinguished Golden Peacock Environment Management Award in environmental management. The World Environment Foundation (WEF) is proud to have established the Annual Award in 1998 to further its goals and objectives. The Award is given to organisations deemed to have accomplished notable successes in environmental management. The term “environment” describes an environment that is fully integrated.

The Institute of Directors (IOD) has presented Adani Energy Solutions (AES), the largest privately held transmission and distribution company in India, with the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award (GPEMA) in the “Power Transmission” category. Adani’s portfolio includes AES, which is geographically diversified. Experts in energy, health and safety, environment, and climate change evaluated over 520 applications.

Hon’ble Justice M. N. Venkatachaliah, a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India and Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission of India and the National Commission for Constitution of India Reforms, chaired an eminent jury committee that later reviewed these applications. Adani updates reveal that AES has received the prestigious “Golden Peacock Environment Management Award” for its unwavering commitment to reducing its ecological footprint through initiatives such as zero waste to landfill, single-use plastic-free, water-positive operations, promotion of renewable energy integration, and implementation of best-in-class environmental management strategies that go beyond compliances.

This accolade underlines AES’s dedication to sustainable practises and its responsibility as a responsible corporation. Other award criteria were as follows:

· Adherence to regulations

·Implementing strategies for sustainable business development

· Adopting a risk management strategy that would reduce the company’s damage-related expenses

The honour indicates AES’s sustained commitment to the environment, social governance, and governance (ESG).
